Every morning one of us walks up the drive to the road where our newspaper box is located to get the paper.
For the last couple of years we have been finding avocados laying on the ground along a little stretch of the driveway. We have looked and hunted for the tree but haven't been able to locate it no matter how hard we search.
We usually find at least one avo and sometimes several. Some have been eaten by little critters and we dispose of those by throwing them down the little gulch on one side of the drive - hopefully, from the seeds, there will be more mystery avo trees coming up in years to come.
This morning I walked to get the paper and decided to bring the camera along on the chance that there would be at least one avo.
I found two together
.....and then found one a bit further up and several liliko'i (passionfruit) laying around it.
We don't know what variety of avos they are, but they are roundish and usually about 6 inches in diameter. Green with reddish tones when unripe and they turn a deep purple as they ripen.
Today I also found two more liliko'i by the side of the highway just beyond the paper box. The vine growing from the trees overhead has been quite prolific this year.
We are both puzzled by the mystery avo tree, but certainly grateful for the mana from heaven!
