In previous articles I have mentioned what veggies do best by being planted by other vegetables and what flower plants are beneficial to plant along in the veggie garden.
Herb plants can serve as good companions in the veggie garden. Some herbs more than others and others are best to avoid at all cost, or plant far away from anything else.
Basil repels asparagus beetles, mosquitoes and flies and is beneficial also to asparagus, tomatoes, okra, bell peppers and oregano.

Borage benefits almost all garden plants, especially strawberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and cabbages by attracting predatory insects and beneficial bees.

Chamomile is a good pal to basil, wheat, onions, cabbage and cucumbers.
Chervil is a good companion to lettuce, radishes and broccoli besides repelling aphids.
Chives are good friends with tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, kohlrabi, cabbage and mustard but keep away from beans and peas.
Cilantro (aka coriander) repels aphids, spider mites and potato beetles. A tea can be made from the leaves and stems to spray other plants for spider mites. Cilantro is a good bed companion for asparagus, potatoes, dill, anise, spinach and caraway.
Comfrey should be planted all over the garden. It provides calcium, phosphorus and potassium to the garden beds and attracts snails, keeping them away from other plants. Comfrey likes a humid environment and grows well where other plants would rot. When thinning comfrey, chop the leaves back into the soil or add to the compost pile. Asparagus do well near comfrey.

Dill works great among the cabbages and lettuces, also with corn, onions, asparagus and cucumbers;but keep dill away from carrots and tomatoes and remember to also keep your cabbage and lettuces separate! Dill planted with cucumbers help by deterring cucumber beetles and dill also attracts good predators.
If planting fennel in the garden, plant it near dill. Fennel is the enemy of too many of the plants in the garden, but for some reason, it thrives near dill.
Garlic plays well with roses, believe it or not and is also a good companion to cucumbers, lettuce and celery. Garlic attracts the cabbage looper, cabbage maggots, ants and rabbits
Lovage, a most underused plant in the herbal garden, benefits almost all plants planted near them.
Marjoram (see below for Oregano)

Mint and peppermint are good friends to kohlrabi, kale, broccoli and other brassicas but they are so invasive that is best to grow completely apart from other herbs.
Oregano and Marjoram are great companions to tomatoes, hot peppers, kohlrabi and many other plants. So far I haven't found any plant that shouldn't be planted near any type of oregano.
Parsley loves to help asparagus, sweet bell peppers and hot peppers

Rosemary benefits hot peppers, cabbage, beans, and carrots and also protects sage plants from predators.
Sage kohlrabi and other brassicas, beans and carrots benefit from being planted near sage.
Summer savory helps the taste of green beans and onions, so plant among the onion sets and underneath bean trellises.
Tarragon is a wonderful companion to everything in the garden, but especially egg plants, tomatoes and peppers

Thyme plays well with eggplants and peppers, kohlrabi and other cabbages.
